The King John School is part of the Benfleet Teaching School Alliance, alongside The Appleton School and Kingston Primary School.
These schools have been granted teaching school status by the National College for Teaching and Leadership. Teaching schools, all rated as “outstanding”, take a leading role in improving teaching standards in their locality. Their aim is to share excellent teaching practices, shape initial teacher training, offer tailored school-to-school support, develop leadership potential and provide high quality training for teachers in every stage of their career.
The Benfleet Teaching School Alliance works closely with their strategic alliance partners to deliver outstanding educational provision:
- Essex Local Authority
- Glenwood School
- The Robert Drake Primary School
- The Sweyne Park School
- TES Institute Westwood Academy
The Benfleet Teaching School Alliance is committed to attracting, training and developing recently qualified graduates to enable all schools within our area to reach the same level of excellence and quality of provision thus ensuring that all our young people achieve their full potential.
In order to realise this vision the schools in the partnership have made a commitment to work together through the School Direct programme with TES Institute to provide the very best school-based teacher training programmes in the infant, primary and secondary sector. The programme will seek to maximise time spent in the classroom by ensuring that the face-to-face professional studies programme is of the highest quality and delivered within our locality.
